ExtenZe is among the most widely known male enhancement supplements available. Consequently, when I heard ExtenZe was upgrading its formula to offer even better results, I just had to know more.
ExtenZe HT, or ExtenZe Higher Testosterone, is said to increase muscle mass, boost energy and vitality, and optimize testosterone production.
Yet can ExtenZe HT outperform its predecessor?
I’m not so sure. . .
Consequently, I dug a little deeper to find out what ExtrenZe HT could really do.
Are The Ingredients Effective?
Oddly enough, ExtenZe HT is not highly advertised or promoted. It’s not listed at ExtenZe.com, and ExtenZeHT.com only says “coming soon!”
According to the ingredient label at Luckyvitamin.com, ExtenZe HT contains the following:
Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA). GABA is a chemical that blocks certain neurotransmissions in the brain. It is often used to alleviate anxiety, improve mood, and even treat ADHD. If stress and anxiety is making it difficult to enjoy your sex life, then GABA may be able to help.
Unfortunately, GABA lacks clinical research and is not yet proven to improve testosterone or treat erectile dysfunction.
Pregnenolone. This naturally produced chemical is used to produce all steroid hormones. It combats fatigue, increases energy, and improves the body’s ability to cope with stress.
Pregnenolone has the possibility of converting into testosterone to improve testosterone levels. However, it may also turn into other hormones such as cortisol or DHEA which may have a catabolic effect on muscles and muscle tissue.
Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). DHEA is naturally produced in the body and is the parent hormone to androstenedione. Androstenedione is then converted into major male and female hormones.
DHEA is commonly used to treat erectile dysfunction in men and low libido in women. Many experts recommend taking 25-50 mg DHEA to treat androgen deficiency. However, studies show DHEA ingestion does not enhance serum testosterone concentrations in resistance trained young men.
Fish Oil. Fish oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which improve cholesterol levels and cardiovascular health. Many people use fish oil as “brain food” because it may treat depression, psychosis, and ADHD.
Many experts recommend taking 1-4 grams of fish oil a day to treat high blood pressure, but ExtenZe HT only contains 50 mg per serving. That’s barely a fraction of the recommended amount.
Rosemary Extract. Rosemary, or damiana, is traditionally used as an aphrodisiac. It increases energy levels and enhances sexual stimulation. Rosemary is said to stimulate the genital area by enriching the oxygen supply.
Unfortunately, rosemary has not been extensively studied for this use.
While it’s a step forward to find an ingredient label that doesn’t hide ingredients behind a proprietary blend, I can’t help but think ExtenZe HT took a step backward by using these specific ingredients.
The all-natural ingredients in this formula lack the clinical research to produce reliable results. While the ingredients may improve testosterone production, it’s also possible that the same ingredients will provide little or no effect at all.
There’s more hype than actual science behind ExtenZe HT’s formula. . .
Potential Side Effects and Safety Concerns
Just because a formula looks like it’s all-natural doesn’t mean it’s safe to use on a regular basis. The ingredients in ExtenZe HT either lack clinical research or are used in incorrect concentrations or both!
Pregnenolone, for example, has not been studied enough to determine its overall effects.
Some experts believe too much pregnenolone may cause side effects such as overstimulation, insomnia, irritability, anger, anxiety, acne, headache, mood changes, facial hair growth, hair loss, and irregular heart rhythm.
Manufacturers warn to discontinue use and seek medical help if you experience rapid heartbeat, dizziness, blurred vision, or similar symptoms.
Is ExtenZe HT Vegetarian Friendly?
ExtenZe HT contains gelatin, so it is not vegetarian friendly.
Does ExtenZe HT Contain Testosterone?
Although ExtenZe HT has “higher testosterone” on the box, it does not contain the actual hormone. Rather, it is designed to increase testosterone production naturally by balancing hormone production.
How to Use ExtenZe HT
Usage instructions are scant at best. As far as I can tell, ExtenZe HT should be taken daily. For best results, take 1 capsule in the morning with 6-8 oz. of water.
ExtenZe HT should not be used by women or individuals under 18.
If you are taking medication or have a history of prostate cancer, consult your doctor prior to use.
Where to Buy ExtenZe HT
ExtenZe HT is difficult to find and can only be purchased from a few reliable websites:
• GNC.com: $39.99
• Walgreens.com: $22.99
Be Careful of Imitations
ExtenZe products are so popular that many supplement manufacturers go to great lengths to cut a share of the profits.
I’ve seen several imitation ExtenZe HT formulas sold by distributors promising 14 day trials. The boxes and labeling look exactly like ExtenZe with the same fonts and colors. The product even shares the same “HT” title. The only difference (on the surface) is the ExtenZe logo at the top.
However, don’t fall for imitation products. Often these trials are linked to expensive auto-ship programs and hidden charges and fees.
Additionally, Biotab Nutraceuticals was forced to recall several ExtenZe supplements due to undeclared and potential harmful ingredients.
An FDA press released stated:
“Two lots of counterfeit product purporting to be EXTENZE contain undeclared drug ingredients. More specifically, lot 0709241 contains tadalafil and sildenafil. . . The counterfeit Extenze product is not manufactured, distributed or packaged by Biotab, but is falsely marked with the same lot numbers used by Biotab for its genuine product. . .it is very difficult to distinguish the counterfeit from the genuine product . . .It is possible that there may be other counterfeit products on the market that have yet to be identified.
ExtenZe HT Manufacturers
ExtenZe HT is owned by Biotab Nutraceuticals.
According to the Better Business Bureau, Biotab earned a C+ rating on a scale of A+ to F. The primary factor that lowered its score was the sheer number of consumer complaints filed against the company: 342 in the last 3 years.
Most of these complaints involved multiple charges and shipments each month, even though many consumers specifically requested auto-ship cancellation.
The BBB warns, “This company uses a questionable marketing method known as negative option cancellation. With this method, products and services are sent to consumers unsolicited, sometimes on a monthly renewal program, and unauthorized charges appear on credit cards.”
Consequently, you’ll want to be careful when ordering ExtenZe or ExtenZe HT.

Is ExtenZe HT Worth Buying?
ExtenZe HT has the potential to promote testosterone, but it also has the potential to promote estrogen and other unwanted hormones. Many of the ingredients are unproven to work and in unproven concentrations.
The manufacturers are very well known, but often due to negative customer feedback rather than reliable customer service.
With so many points against it, I have a hard time recommending ExtenZe HT. There are better products with more reliable ingredients available that won’t put your health on the line.
