This is one of the most popular homemade skin masks. Its popularity seems to emanate from its level of efficiency in skin lightening. To prepare this paste, you need (surprisingly) Tomato, Oatmeal and yoghurt.

Tomato is a good astringent that has properties that gently aid the skin to be lightened. Oatmeal on the other hand is a natural and gentle exfoliant that acts on the skin and gradually lightens the highly melanin pigmented area, culminating to lighter skin on all areas the oatmeal is used on the skin. Yoghurt as a natural exfoliant too, removing blemishes occurring on the skin. Yoghourt will further ensure the skin is constantly moisturized and soft.

To prepare the paste, you need a tea spoon of yoghourt, oatmeal and tomato respectively. These should be mixed into a paste and applied on the skin. The paste should be left to stand on the skin for about 15 – 20 minutes and then rinsed with cold water. It is recommended that as you wash the paste off your face, rub the face gently. This helps as the oatmeal in removing some dark and dead skin cells that may cause the overall complexion to be darker. The use of this paste is also encouraged in removing sun tan.

The ingredients for this skin mask are Milk, Lemon Juice and Honey
To create it, equal proportions of milk, honey and lemon juice are required. A tablespoon of each should be enough for the face. When the three ingredients are mixed together, the paste should be applied on the skin and left to stand for approximately 15 – 20 minutes. The mask should be washed off afterwards with cold water. This treatment is recommended for people with dry skin as it makes the skin tone lighter and makes the skin very soft and moist.

Something to note when preparing this mask is that the lemon juice used should be freshly squeezed and not juice that has been previously frozen. Such juice if used is not as effective as would be preferred. It is also important to note that the treatment is not recommended for people with very sensitive skin because lemon juice makes the skin photosensitive. It is recommended that use of sunscreen should be done on a daily basis following the use of the remedy.

This is one of the best remedies that you can make use of. All that is needed is that the sandal wood powder be mixed with freshly squeezed lemon juice in equal proportions. It is advisable that the paste should be applied in equal proportions. The paste should then be applied to the areas of skin that need to be whitened. The paste should be left on for about 15 – 20 minutes. One should then rinse their face with plenty of fresh and clean water. The sandalwood acts as a mild abrasive while the mild bleaching action of the lemon juice is at work, resulting in an overall whiter blemish – free skin.
